Our Favorite J.Crew Black Turtleneck Is $27

If there’s one thing to stock up on at a J.Crew sale, it’s the Tissue Turtleneck. It’s something J.Crew employees buy themselves, and everyone from author Mary H.K. Choi to Catbird’s Rony Vardi owns (at least) one. Today, the already cheap turtleneck is even cheaper: Usually $40, it’s now down to $27. If you already own the turtleneck, just note that J.Crew recently rereleased it in “tissue crêpe” material. It’s made from 100 percent cotton, as the original was, and remains the reigning best black turtleneck in our guide to black turtlenecks. The only difference I noticed is that the new Tissue Turtleneck is thinner than the old Tissue Turtleneck, which makes it a lighter layer than, say, Uniqlo’s Heattech. Mine has been in constant rotation since the first leaf fell. You’ll be grateful you bought it now (on sale, of course) when the next unpredictable weather week comes around.
